How long have you been around?

We began ideating and developing our first products and business models over five years ago, leading to the founding of 99industries in 2021. Now that we’re ready to bring our first projects to market, we’ve established Avonao & Incredible, Inc. and, alongside it, launched our deep-tech arm as a spin-off and as an own entity: Definity Labs, Inc.

What does the word ‘Definity’ in your name mean?

The name Definity Labs actually emerged from a simple typo. While typing the word ‘definitely’, a left hand finger hit the y-key. At that moment, we knew that we had – definitely – found that perfect name for our deep-tech arm. For us, it represents the fusion of ‘infinity’—symbolizing endless ideas, possibilities, ambition, and creativity—with ‘definitive and definitely,’ meaning to make things concrete: not just dreaming of innovation or planning it, but turning real innovations into reality, in line with our guiding principle: “The Future starts with We.” and to always achieve this in a cooperation together with strong expert partners.

Are you a startup accelerator or incubator?

No, we are not an investment firm, fund, startup accelerator, or incubator. We also do not work with private investors or engage in crowdfunding. We exclusively collaborate with reputable commercial entities such as VCs, accelerators, incubators, traditional investment funds, banks, and similar institutions — no exceptions.

We structure our projects and corresponding business plans around standard funding models, starting with bootstrapping, followed by pre-seed and seed rounds, and progressing through Series A and Series B, including access to established grant and funding programs.

Yet, our work can be described as a “product idea and business model concept accelerator and incubator”, but not in the typical sense of what a startup accelerator or incubator does. We incubate and accelerate ideas into feasible and viable business concepts that we realize with strong expert VC partners.

What’s your professional background?

Our founder is an expert in AI, software, cloud, and the development of products and business models. He originally comes from an academic background in aviation management and spent several years in the eCommerce sector. For the past 10 years, he has worked as a researcher specializing in commercial products and business models and shifted into development in 2021 in addition. Over the years, he has earned numerous certifications in software and cloud technologies, business management, customer journey management, agile leadership, agile project management, PRINCE2-certified project management and many others. He considers himself a true life-long learner.

I’m interested in a project partnership — how does that usually work with you?

Project partnerships are close collaborations between you and us, with the shared goal of turning a product and its associated business venture into a success. We work together on validating the concept, developing the business plans and all relevant documentation, assembling a team, and jointly taking on the responsibilities — as well as the burdens — of the project. The same applies to any profits and distributions generated through the product and the company.
